Planning and Sustainability

The emergence of sustainable development policies in the context of new and changing planning regulations means that organisations and individuals alike need to be up-to-date with movements in national and local policy. RAE Consulting is able draw upon the skills of a number of specialists who combine academic and practical experience dealing with planning and sustainability issues. Our team can provide expert advice, or undertake commissioned research, addressing this rapidly-evolving area of policy.

Mr Andrew Gilg, who has spent 35 years researching planning and public policy and has expertise on recent developments in the planning system, not least the 2004 Planning Act and Local Development Frameworks.

Dr Mike Kelly, senior planning officer at North Devon District Council.  Drawing upon his experience, he is able to offer expert advice on a range of planning issues related to local issues. Both he and Andrew Gilg have run a number of successful planning conferences introducing and explaining key elements of new policy to local planners and elected officials.

Dr Stewart Barr is Director of the MSc in Sustainable Development at Exeter University. He works extensively with local authorities and other public agencies in the design of research linked to sustainability, in particular public attitudes and behaviour towards the environment and sustainability.
